The biggest startup community in the world is coming back for a second, bigger full-fledged conference in Barcelona. On November 14th, Startup Grind Barcelona Conference will take place and offer attendees the opportunity to learn from some of the most influential companies like Google, Dow Jones, Shazam and many more.
Presented by Àlex Rodríguez Bacardit, CEO of Marsbased and also one of the event’s organizer, this new edition expects close to 900 participants—up from the 700 present last year. Those participants will include 27 speakers as well as “close to 100 investors.”
Speakers include Clancy Childs (CTO at Dow Jones), Dhiraj Mukherjee (co-founder of Shazam), Orit Kopel (founder of Wikitribune) and Asha Jadeja (serial angel investor & VC—one of the first investors of Google).
A broad set of topics will be discussed, from technological challenges of the present and the future, regarding hiring professional developers, offshoring development, the rise of blockchain, finding out what to do with ICOs and even tackling the fake news issue, among many others.
Things will actually kick off Tuesdaym November 13th at 6:00 PM Antiga Fàbrica Estrella Damm for registration. The actual conference day will start the next day at Auditori AXA, from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. After registration and breakfast, things will kick off with a discussion on how to build trust through an outstanding UX.
Startup Grind is a Google-backed project that encompasses more than 500 cities and 150 countries, with a total of 1 million or so entrepreneurs. It aims to push the growth of entrepreneurship internationally by hosting monthly events in each city.
Barcelona has proven to be one of the most strategic points in the community, thanks to its healthy and ever-growing startup scene. It was voted the 5th biggest startup hub in Europe in 2017, the same year it saw around 1,400 startups that amassed €453 million.
