Great minds. Remarkable talks. Exceptional speakers. Future leaders in the making. That is what Dublin Tech Summit, held at The Convention Centre, was all about. Buzzing with enthusiasm, the summit featured some of the greatest minds in the global tech industry who shared their ideas, emphasised on the importance of innovation in a fast-paced world, and how emerging industries could develop innovative strategies to thrive in the future. There were 180 speakers from leading industries around the world and the core message was:

Where Today’s Leaders Meet Tomorrow’s Technology

The main topics included: Innovation technology, Future technology, Music Technology and Technology Factory. Here are the main takeaways from the summit.

Dublin: the innovative city

Dublin has become one of the leading capitals of Europe due to innovation in cloud computing, cyber security, and artificial intelligence.

In today’s world, you need knowledge to develop innovative products because customers don’t want to purchase outdated products. Consumers want better features and services. Companies need to be efficient since it’s not just products that generate money. According to Ray O’ Farrell, CTO at VMware, innovation is not enough; companies need to maintain power. They need to think differently about worldwide logistics and business models. There are many ideas out there regarding the best practices for companies.

Relevance drives innovation

An idea is relevant if it is in sync with organizational goals and global structure. Companies need innovation to make ideas relevant. Companies need to look for new pathways and adaptive responses to the changing world. Companies need to understand the social, cultural, and political context of the idea, main actors involved, their goals and capabilities and existing conflicts in the framework.  Innovation gives companies a cutting edge in rapid-changing markets and contributes to better opportunities. It drives companies to be proactive, take risks, and get things done. With an innovative culture, a company can grow properly.

Sofie Lindblom, CEO at ideation 360, talked about how the world is changing at a faster pace and that it will “never change this slow again.” To bloom in the changing global economy, companies have to create new ways of working and collaboration. Tech companies have to look for the constantly innovation to avoid their Kodak moment and by not threatening the existence of the current business. Management needs to balance with competing interests. Their vision needs to be adaptable. A Kodak moment happens when an industry leader fails to adapt to changing market trends and ultimately loses out. Kodak refused to acknowledge relevance of digital cameras and filed for bankruptcy in 2011.

“The world is changing faster than ever. This requires organisation to define new ways of working and collaborating.” Sofie Lindblom

Quantum Computing is the future

Quantum computing is an emerging technology that uses different approaches to process information. It can potentially become a huge thing in the next decade as it has the power to process different algorithms holistically. It could contribute to remarkable breakthroughs in artificial intelligence and man-made structures. With quantum computing, companies can discover new materials and medicines. They can optimize fleet operations and enable efficient management of logistics and supply chains. It could also help companies discover innovative ways to model financial data for better investments.

AI: empowering the human race

People fear that artificial intelligence would take over the human society and replace jobs. However, speaker Elisabeth Rochman, Andreea Wade and Marco Costo emphasized on the importance of AI in empowering humans, automating monotonous tasks and saving time, expenditures and lives. AI is one of the most important modern-world technologies. It can potentially change the way we relate to technology.

Music Technology: the new way to create sounds

Talks focusing on music technology underlined that innovation drives music and affects the way we create sounds. Music technology changes the way we think about music and how different types of artists approach music; because with all the progress related to data transfer, nowadays new and innovative ways to work with music are being created, allowing companies to collaborate with people from different cultures.

Companies are at an advantage in generating new sounds and evoking different emotions. Internet allows collaboration through social networks, such as Soundcloud, where people can listen to other aspiring musicians or artists and work with them. That’s how the face of music has changed.

Finally, the summit also stand out about the role of women in the tech industry. Several milestones in the modern tech industry could not have been accomplished without the help of women. It’s clear that companies need gender diversity and to provide greater opportunities to women by focusing on their training to help them climb higher. Female talent is limitless. Employers should establish a successful women’s network and help build stronger relationships, better skills, and drive success.

Overall, Dublin Tech Summit was an exciting event and offered a great many opportunities for learning. Dublin Tech Summit now preps up for 2019.
